Counting Stars and Jewels- Rohith’s Anniversary trip to Dubai with Thrillophilia
It was raining heavily the day we left for our trip to Dubai. It was the first rain of the year as if nature was wishing us luck for our trip.
We could leave for the trip with a very fresh and tension-free mind as we knew everything was well-arranged there- from hotels to transfers we had booked it all from Thrillophilia. And since I travelled with them for my family tours in the past, I had full faith in them.
Since we shifted to India, our urge to travel has increased, so we were taking almost two or three trips every year. And the month of March was a good time to explore the arid region of Dubai. There was another purpose behind this trip, the celebration of our anniversary, and we wanted to do something special on this occasion.
We had a very specific kind of trip in our minds, and we hoped that our tour operator would take care of each aspect minutely.
And we were right, they did not just do a spectacular job, but they also exceeded our expectations. Every single aspect of the trip was taken care of- like setting the hotel room into a romantic suite or selecting the best cocktails for the Dhow Cruise dinner.
We were so happy and relaxed in this period, lost in the romantic air and the lovely ambience of the place.
Some moments to remember
The entire trip left a deep impact on us.
It's true, Dubai offers a plethora of experiences that can alter your perspective of life and livelihoods. Starting from breathtaking views to culturally rich tours of the Global Village and the Dubai Marina, everything was well-arranged. Since we already had the pick up locations and timings, it was easier to plan our personal tours outside the itinerary as well.
One activity that stood out to us was the desert safari. It was my first experience visiting desert areas, although my wife had done so before. I was so mesmerised to see the sandy landscapes dotted with huge dunes that I wished to utilise all my time there. We already had a camel-back ride included in the itinerary and I must admit, it was a beautiful experience.
We saw the spectacular sunset, and even spent our night in a desert camp. It was a very unique experience, camping in the middle of the desert. We got served with a delicious and hot BBQ dinner along with snacks and tea. And you know what, we also watched a live music and belly dance performance that was organised in the campsite itself.
The cultural heritage of the land is very prosperous, and it was reflected through these performances. The use of folk musical instruments and belly dancing in itself is a significant marker of the destination, and we got a wholesome experience of it.
We really enjoyed the tour of the Museum of the Future and the Dubai Frame as well. We were accompanied by the guides at all times, who told us about the history and the idea behind such projects.
Secondly, we just loved the Dhow Cruise experience!
Since the dinner was included in the activity, our menu was also pre-chosen. All the cocktails and the authentic Arabian dishes only made us smack our lips and say, “ AMAZING! ”
Also, on our city tour, they also explained to us about the main livelihoods of the people there in the past - fishing. They used to go fishing on the Dhow Boats, hence it got so popular amongst the tourists as a cultural marker.
The jewels of Dubai
Our tour of Burj Khalifa and The View at The Palm went quite well. We saw the cityscape from the observatories in both these places, clicked a hell lot of pictures and had a lot of fun pointing at buildings and guessing the names. We saw another surreal sunset from The View, which was followed by a lavish dinner in the Palm tower.
Lastly, the Dubai Frame offered a magnificent sight. The park around it allowed us to stroll around and spend some quality time with each other- the reason for which we had booked this trip.
On the day of our anniversary, we went to watch the Dubai Fountain and the light and sound show there. It was a very romantic experience for us, sitting there in each other’s arms and enjoying the show in silence.
We lined that up with an anniversary dinner at Samakje Harbour, ordered some nice and fulfilling Lebanese and Mediterranean food items, and paired them up with a glass full of white wine.
We enjoyed the tour very much, travelling, eating, drinking, and enjoying some mind-blowing landscapes as well as cityscapes. The skies of Dubai showcased an interesting play of colours every day, as if gracing our presence in the city. The weather favoured us as well, We did not opt for any adventure activities because we wanted a slow and thorough trip, without having to rush into anything.
Our last day was kept at leisure, so we could spend more time at the beaches swimming and snorkelling.
Oh and what a day it was! We saw so many marine creatures, not more than the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, but close.
All in all, it was a very well-organised trip and we both could have our share of adventures together as well. So, till the next trip, we have the pictures to look at and smile, cherishing all the moments we spent in Dubai.
